Most of us are aware of the danger of isocyanates. But how many of us know what is the proper way to deal with them?

I did a little research today about face mask cartridge types acceptable for use with isocyanates.

It appears the number system is no longer in use and now a alpha designator is used along with cartridge color.

This website says to use the OV cartridge for isocyanates. It is also a good read about safe use and handling of isocyanates. Nitrile is the correct material for gloves .

More information about various cartridges , takes a few seconds to load as it is a large pdf file.

disclaimer: This is just some information I found on the web to pass along. You make your own decision on which cartridge to select if you are using this type respirator.

Good info, thanks SOF. The Body Shop Business article in particular is spot on regarding the state of safety practices in most body shops.

I have been using the Organic Vapor cartridges and N95 pre-filters but in a half face mask. I do wear a painters sock and hooded paint suit with the Raven gloves so most every part of my body is covered - except my eyes.
Guess I better look into a full mask set up.
My booth does move the cloud out fairly quickly but still scary thinking this stuff is getting in through my eye balls.

look into the Bullard hoods. they are cheap and disposable . i have a t on the hood with a 3 ft hose to feed my gun.
