Hvlp gun with harbor freight compressor?

Hey guys quick question. I ordered this high volume low pressure gun for base and clear on DIY projects, It says two and a half to three and a half CFM at 43 PSI.

The compressor I want to get is this one from harbor freight. Air delivery: 4.5 CFM @ 90 PSI, 5.5 CFM @ 40 PSI. Will this set up work for painting a bumper? The only reason I'm questioning this is because I went to harbor freight and the box says 4.5 SCFM at 90 PSI. I know SCFM and CFM are different.

That looks like a "touch-up" gun, probably give you about a 1" spray pattern.
That's for spot painting.
Way to small to paint a bumper.

The tank pressure of that compressor is 125 psi.
So that's what the compressor will be refilling against once full, which
means the make-up air it will make is way less than that 90 psi rating.
It'll run all the time with that gun once it comes on.

Get the 30 gal upright, with the belt. It'll work for bumpers or a few panels. The HVLP will make it tough though. A compliant gun would be better.

Get the biggest compressor you can afford, like choose the biggest you can afford and add a few bucks and try to get the next one up. :)
I used a Finex 1000 mini hvlp all the time for painting small projects, bigger than bumpers...

What about the harbor freight gun. Ive heard good things about them. Problem with thise is itsa 1.4 tip so i cant prime

Okay so I've decided to get this

With one of the $15 guns and has a coupon for like $9.99 it's got a 1.4 tip

And this

These two have a 1.4 and 1.8 tip so you might be able to put the 1.8 tip on the purple gun and use the purple gun just for primer

Get the 29 gal/150 psi.

I would love to get that one but it's too much. The reason I'm doing this someone backed into my car and the I got a check from the insurance company. I'm using that money to buy basically everything I need to do my front and rear bumper rear bumper should be easy the front is the problem

I know it's twice as much. Find a compliment gun. The HVLP will suck up a lot of SCFM. And , you'll be fighting it the whole way.

What exactly do you mean I will be fighting it the whole way.

he is saying that compressor wont run either one of those guns. it will run them for all of 30 sec until the tank is empty. the compressor itself irregardless of the tank size, must be able to feed atleast the minimum cfm required by the gun. keep in mind also that harbor freight and many others dont rate the cfm used by their tools and guns @ 100% duty cycle. a spray gun pulls air 100% of the time...mostly. something like a nail or impact gun might be 20% etc. who knows how they are rating those 2 guns. i bet that bigger one pulls more than 12cfm. more like 15-16. just some food for thought.

Did you read my 1st post about duty cycle? Sure that gun uses 6cfm lol, at prob 40% duty cycle but a gun is 100%. That gun will use 14-16cfm assuming its a full size gun. Its not stated anywhere. They dont even give you the nozzle size

I do mobile work and have the 29 gallon compressor. I use a Devilbiss Pro-lite gun. It works well for a bumper or a couple of panels. It will serve you well for other things too. I have had mine for at least a couple of years and use it daily.

Here's what I used when I had a 2 hp compressor.
A conventional gun (Binks copy) that can spray well at a much
lower PSI than in its specs (55 psi), using way less than the 7 cfm
I sprayed at 35 psi and it only used around 4 CFM
A conventional gun can spray better at a lower PSI than a HVLP.
(my opinion)
You need a full size gun to paint bumpers.
