Hutchins Water Bug Sander.

I have a Hutchins Water Bug Sander and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on using it to block clear using 1000-1500G paper. Every time I tried it I ended up with pigtails in the clear. I used the included paper punch to pierce the paper and I suspect that is the cause. I am currently looking for an interface pad to use hook and loop paper to see if that helps.

there may be guys out there using them still but i have never seen it. no need to mess with them really. the current orbital sanders out there are good and what all the sandpaper mfg make their sandpaper to fit anymore

i bought one years ago but never really liked it. i have a 1/4 inch hose in the booth and a long piece of surgical tube i slip on it for a dribble hose. i taped a small kitchen magnet on it to keep it in place. i like having the spray nozzle in the booth to keep everything clean.

Just what I suspected. I have had mine for over 20 years and only really used it on one vehicle and as I said I ended up with pigtails that were hard to get out. I ran across it yesterday and thought I would revisit it. I noticed that it has the same thread as a D/A sander so I may try it using a 6-inch hook and loop pad and see how it works. I have an old tractor that I can try it on. If it still pigtails I will sell it on marketplace.
Thanks
