How to tackle pitted sheet metal frame rails?

Just like the title asks how do you guys go about making pitted after media blasting sheet metal frame rails look good again? I have welded in some repair sections of frame rail which are nice and smooth onto the oem frame rails that have been media blasted and have pits in them?
Epoxy, then skim coat of poly putty then more epoxy?
Or is there a better quicker way?

Thanks.

Poly putty gets my vote, though I have been able to fill minor pitting by repeated epoxy prime/sanding sessions.

Epoxy primer and then poly-spray should get most of them, any remaining pits you can use glazing putty and then top with more epoxy.
