How to prep NEW hood before primer

I have a brand new fiberglass hood for my 63 Project. The directions on the SPI epoxy primer indicate that i should sand the hood with 80 grit before applying the product. Is that correct,I should DA the hood with 80? What about the underside? Due to the structure of the underside of the hood, i will need to sand it by hand and if i do that, i am afraid scratch marks will show up through the paint.



 
From the looks of the hood in your pictures, 80 sounds a bit harsh. There are guys on here that do a lot of those Corvettes, and I am not one of them. I'd probably block it with 180, but I don't know much.
 
smooth it down with 120 or so grit the set it in the sun for several days . then buzz it with 180 and go .
