how to patch spray epoxy

title isn't very good but i didn't know how to phrase it better,

so i have a panel the was epoxied 2 months ago and needed to do a bit of body work on it

so i sanded with 120 grit 6" past the work area - did the body work (hammer and dolly) and then a thin coat of rage gold.

My question is - how do i re-spray the area with epoxy (10" square)

do I mask off the scuffed up "wide" area and then just spray the repair - won't i get a line/ridge ?

Stephen

Scuff it farther out than the repair area and spray the epoxy within that scuffed area. Your first application of epoxy over filler will show some absorbtion but once it's sealed up that will stop-filler will always absorb.

thanks bob - that is what i have done - but my question is really do i mask off the scuffed square - and will i get a ridge where the new meets the old at the tape edge ?

thanks Stephen

You can't spray to a taped edge.
Scuff out far enough to stop spraying before
you get to your masking.
Once dry a day or two, you can scuff/sand the panel
to rid the overspray and make everything smooth.
Should be real easy.
