Helping red hide

What color undercoat do you recommend for poor hiding reds? Thanks!

I like complete coverage but you can get close with an appropriate shade as an undercoat. Bright red? Medium red? Dark red? Barry's red oxide epoxy works good if you tweak it with white or black as needed to get the shade comparable. Grey works fine too

It's a medium red. I just have grey stuff. Can get red epoxy as a sealer.

Barry offers a red oxide epoxy. Has to be right on if SPI offers it.

I love the red oxide epoxy, hope SPI never stops offering it.

It can take some experimenting to know, usually the best thing is medium-light gray or the red epoxy like bob suggests. Sprayouts have to be made to determine the best way to produce the illusion of coverage, ain't nobody got time for that.

I just used the grey primer. Took 10 oz.
