Fixing trash in single stage

I just finished spraying 3 coats of single stage (red). I am preparing to spray it with Universal Clear and as I was sanding it (800grit) I found a few trash spots that even after sanding still leave a "black" speck in the color. I am wondering if it is possible to mix a bit of single stage and dab a dot (with a toothpick or something) of it on the black specks .....let it dry and then sand flat again before clearing. I imagine that the new dab of red wont look the same but wondering if its worth a try versus leaving the black specks alone? Has anyone used this method before ....are there any tricks to doing it successfully? The specks arent large but stick out against the red color.

How good are you with a dental pick and a magnifying glass?
Pick the black spec out, put a dab of color , let dry, sand flat and move forward . Has worked for me. If you are good, the area impacted wont be any larger than a pencil eraser.

THanks......Im going to give that a try. My Dad's a retired dentist.....I bet he has a dental pick laying around......The dental pick's a great idea.
