euro clear 2 coat questions

Hi Guys,

I'm using Euro Clear and reducing about 50% since I have a 1.3 tip. I noticed the manual says 2 coats, so my question is how much will be left to buff? Should I do two coats, let it cure, then two more before buffing? Also, if you have a panel that has more coats of clear, but it's the same color will they be darker or lighter than one another?

Does 50% mean 4:1:2.5? That's pretty thin, imo, which might be good for stuff that you don't care about or has to go fast. I'm pretty sure a 1.3 could handle 4:1:1.5 just fine.

You won't have much to buff with it thinned that much. 4 coats at that ratio would probably work, but it's hard to say because I don't think anyone uses it that way.

Some colors can get darker when they have more clear on them, but it's not by much. Light gold colors are the ones on which I've noticed this effect, but it is subtle.

Hi Crash, I did 4:1:1.5ish, lol. It sprayed just fine at that ratio with the 1.3, and the color is "aston racing green". There is minimal orange peel so it won't take much to buff it out. If it were you, would you give it a scuff and more clear, or just leave it be? The car is the first/only I'm painting and I plan on keeping it for good.

It's so hard to say because we all spray differently. If the two coats at 4:1:1.5 were sprayed fairly wet, you should have enough for a light nibbing and a sand with something fine, like 2000 or finer, removing most of the orange peel but not all. If you wanted to sand it flat and buff it, 3 coats is the very minimum.

I think a lot of guys here would tell you to put more clear on it. That's definitely the safest advice.

P.S. 4:1:1.5 is 30% reducer.

Thanks. That's what I was leaning towards, and what I'll do.
