Epoxy on the plastic inner fender

R

Ricker

I read some where that epoxy was very flexable. I was wondering if I can spray a coat on my plastic inner fenders to make them look new again or is there something better for this?

What car? do you know what kind of plastic it is? You might need to use adhesion promoter.

It's a '97 Dodge Ram. No I don't know what kind of plastic was used for this.

Those things are cheap to buy new (about $25-30 each), not worth the effort to refinish since they are polypropylene. Even with the best prep and material, the constant pounding they will receive from stones will beat any coating off of them in a year or so.

A bit off topic, but this reminds me of my 1970 442 W-30. The previous owner apparently did not like the inner wheel wells on the front of the car so he spray painted them black, and spray painted them black some more.

I peeled the paint off of them the first day I had the car, nothing I liked more on a W-30 than letting others see those red inner wheel wells.

A year later it was running 11.4's at the track ( ele. 2130) in almost legal street trim. open headers arent legal on the street around this town, don't ask how I know, LOL. $$ka-ching$$

Yea I got to thinking about the stone chips and such, sounds like a waste of time and product for nothing
