English Wheel run out question

Had two good weather days to move forward. Getting closer to final paint. Media blasted Sunday and sprayed SPI epoxy yesterday. Was able to keep the garage at 70 degrees during the 24 hour curing process. The little Dyna-Glo heater I installed works very well. It's rated for 1,000 sq ft. My garage is 780 square ft.

I almost didn't get it stood up to finish epoxy painting. I think I stained my shorts picking it up, lol

Update.......
Almost finished. Epoxy and filler work completed. Sprayed 2k high build today. Used the new Iwata Air Gunza, it laid down the 2k primer fantastic.

Up next is to sand the 2k with 400 and finish it off with 600 for the metallic base coat.

I'm glad I had the opportunity to finally spray base and clear. This little project gave me the confidence I needed to move forward with painting my Barracuda. I'm also looking forward to spraying with my Iwata LPH 400. I sprayed everything on the English Wheel, epoxy primer,sealer, base and clear with the Devilbiss FLG5. Those picture where taken 12 hours later with no sun exposure. It seems each hour more dry time the clearer, brighter the finish gets. It's going to be another 3 or 4 days before we have sunshine again. We are in our rainy season out here.

I think I'm going to cut and buff just the upper half of the English Wheel to understand that process before practicing on my car.

Just my opinion, I would leave it as is. Going to suck enough when the metal you wheel scratches it.
 
Oh I'm not going to cut and buff the whole thing right now, I'll save it for a Winter project.

I'm cutting and buffing the top half to learn how to do it. Learning to make sure the buffer is rotating off the edge, also learning how to cut and buff small or tight areas. I'd rather like to learn on this English Wheel than my car. Screwing up on the English would suck but, screwing up on the car might make me kill myself :)

What I'm curious about is how an edge is cut and buffed? ....... or does it?

Finished painting an accessory yesterday for the English Wheel. This is a Lazer line, it's used as a training guide when wheeling to not go past the postage stamp outline of the material. This is another tool my wife bought me probably 20 years ago that I've never used. It was red and black and I painted it to match the colors of the English Wheel.

What tip and pressure did you use?
 
In my best Gomer Pyle voice....surprise surprise surprise, a thread from the past.

To answer your question, for epoxy mixed 1:1, I used a Devilbiss FLG-5 with a 1.4 tip. Fluid was 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 turns out from closed, fan was all the way open and turned back in 1/2 turn, 26 psi at the gun. High Build primer was sprayed with an Iwata Air Gunza 1.8 tip. Full fluid and fan 1/4 turn closed from fully open, 22 psi at the gun. Sealer and base Devilbiss FLG-5. Fluid was 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 turns out from closed, fan was all the way open and turned back in 3/4 to 1 full turn from fully open, 24-26 psi at the gun. Turbo Clear, Devilbiss FLG-5 was 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 turns out from closed, fan was all the way open and turned back in 1/2 to 3/4 full turn from fully open. 29-30 psi at the gun.

My spraying speed was moderate, not fast, yet not slow. I tried to keep the gun 6" away from the spraying surface. I also narrowed down my fan and reduced my fluid when spraying the tightest parts of the triangles. I didn't want to take the chance of runs in those tight areas using an almost full fan and fluid. Also don't forget, I don't know what I'm doing but, I do it anyways.
