dynabrade buffer 49440

i think it was such a good tool they have not changed it in 50 years. there are several different models now. different rpm .

mine is due to be delivered today. ill let you know my first impressions of it. its a 3200 rpm model same as my buffer so should work out ok. for $300 you would think the quality would be ok. i have had good luck with even cheap air tools over the years like HF. hopefully this thing will last.

so i got this drill/buffer. it seems like a very quality piece. it doesnt have that cheap feel like a harbor freight tool. time will tell i guess. the head is really small which will work great. i have a buddy of mine making me a custom backup pad for it. a 1/8" metal disc with threads in the center without a standoff. when threaded in, this will bring the disc right up to the head. it should reduce overall height by atleast 3/8" or more over a std backup pad or a dynabrade plastic disc with an adapter. he said it would be done later today.

I got my custom backup pad made. Just need to attach the velcro on it. Overall height just a hair under 1-1/4”

Interesting, looks like the custom piece has some mass which I think would actually be helpful in an air tool, they tend to stall out a little too easily sometimes.

It will definitely have a bit of a flywheel effect. Not sure if its needed or not since i habe not even tried this yet. Its a .4hp motor geared down to 3200rpm like my other mini buffer and that thing has a ton of power. Time will tell i guess. Ill let you know once i use this thing
