I'm getting ready to dye interior plastic and door panels on a 87 chevy crew cab was wondering what best prep procedure most guys use on here I am using dupont rts vinyl dye
Thanks,Justin
SEM has a line of interior coatings that has worked pretty well. Mostly we try to stay away from interior re-coloring unless the customer understands clearly that it's not a perfect solution. Door trim panels for example will need to be touched up regularly.
My two cents for what it's worth. If you are redoing hard plastic I would use a grey scuff pad and scuff stuff then use a good plastic adhesion promoter like SPI's and hope for the best. PPG makes a line of interior/underhood paint...DBI. It's basically Deltron. I imagine Axalta makes something similar. I would use that before a vinyl dye on hard plastic.
