delrin

Nothing likes to stick to it, so definitely use adpro. Maybe even flame treatment, too. A test part would be advisable.
Also it's one of the exceptions to the float/promote rule, since it will definitely sink in water. It's just not commonly used in painted parts, afaik.

perfect. that's what i wanted to know. i need it white and i ordered it in white BUT it probably wont match the white gelcoat on the rest of my boat. probably just best to live with color being off that than to deal with matching and paint chipping.

I don't know what configuration your using the delrin but could you wrap it with adhesive white vinyl? Or maybe that would not match the gel coat either, boats are often an off white.
Edit to add: I have painted sign vinyl with base and clear with good results. They were some airbrushed graphic elements on a customers tank truck probably 6-7 years ago and they are holding up fine.

well ill see what color it is when it shows up. honestly its prob not necessary to paint or cover it. its not in some super noticeable location. as long as it doesn't show up here in some type of cream color then im sure it will be fine. i figured if it was easy to bond to then why not match it. being difficult i wont bother since it may see some abuse. its just a spacer block for a chain stopper and will sit in front of the windlass with the stopper on top of it all through bolted to the fwd deck.

Jim my friend Tony wants to know when the "The Stugots 3" is going to be finished. He's getting a little impatient. :D

lol. took 2 years to build it but its all done! although its a boat so is it really ever done? always a project. the plan is to sell the business to someone in a couple years then move on to the boat and cruise the east coast us and caribbean. would love to go through the south pacific but thats a long way off.

yeah that is why im using it. its a 6x6x3" thick square and will need to hold a couple tons of of force in the worse case scenario.
