Clear loving bugs:

S

S1.

I have to say I am in love with the Universal Clear.
I have been abusive and this product always shines.
(Though I recommend you follow SPI's recommendations) :)

I had to spray a hood and bumpers on a rebuild I'm doing for my daughter's college transportation.
It was getting close to night fall and instead of putting the parts in my booth I decided
to spray them in the open and see how the bugs reacted to the clear.

Bugs obviously hate SPI universal clear because I did not have any... AWESOME.
I let the parts set in the open all night.
I have used other clears and the bugs would tear it up like it was candy.

It is so user friendly, not to mention, forgiving.
I just wish I had this stuff 10 years ago.

Are you using the 2.1 voc clear or the 1:1 Universal clear, After talking to Berry I'm not sure which one to order. Nice spray booth by the way. How do you heat the booth without heating the whole shop first? I like to get it painted and cut and buff the car over a two week peroid time span. I just want a clear that will works well with my time in the shop. And what high build primer have you used that blocks out good without loading the paper to much, Berry has recommended the turbo 2K high build primer Black because the car is going black base. Any help would be great Thanks Tony

I've been using the 1:1 Universal. I don't think you'll have any problem with the 2 week window. Others have said it was just as easy to buff 6 months later.
I know what you mean if you're referring to clears that are like a brick to buff if you wait more than 24 to 48 hrs. That's why I say this stuff is so user friendly.

My son's Miata was the first car the I used the 2K primer on and I did not have any issues there either. The primer dries quick allowing you start working with it sooner than higher end primers I've used from Sikken's or PPG. We're also painting it black and I just used the black epoxy primer "reduced" as a sealer which saved me on base coat.

As for the heat in my booth, I haven't crossed that bridge yet. Money and Time ..... I have a few ideas, we'll see. Our winters aren't usually as bad as what you probably get. And I'm usually not pushed for time on projects I do at home so if it takes a day or so for a job to dry it's no big deal.

Universal will buff like butter years later.. Oh yeah I said years later.. Ive buffed show work a couple years later, Even sanded them down again and they buffed out like nothing.. Cant beat the Universal for that!
