Clausens kills sandpaper

Is it just me or does everyone else go through sandpaper at double rate blocking Clausens?
What grit are you starting with? You should really use a very coarse grit to do your initial blocking when sanding poly primer. My first blocking steps I use 120 grit when blocking poly. Huge difference between how paper lasts when doing the initial blocking with 120 versus 180.

Was doing 180. I did some in 120 and it was better but this stuff dulls the grit much faster than i expected

sunmight psa green film. I guess I have just gotten spoiled with filler and SPI epoxy. They sand nice and don't wear the paper as much. I have noticed that my sunmight psa brown paper backed 180 seems to cut better and last longer, but I don't have much so I have not tried it on the poly.

I start with 100 on poly. Possibly one could cut the top layer off with 80 if nothing else was available. Poly laughs at 180 unless the texture is gone.

My experience with it is different. I've been using the green film Sunmight as well. It cuts and lasts pretty good. Really good IMO. All sandpaper will dull some initially. It doesn't stay razor sharp like unused paper. Perhaps that's what you are expecting IDK. When to change is hard to put into words. After the initial bit of sanding with new paper it will dull a little. Then it will cut very similar for a time. When it starts to cut less than that is when it's time to change. Hard to quantify or put into words. Some folks change too often, others not often enough. Keep in mind too that poly primer doesn't sand very well. Especially initially. Once you cut it some it sands better but nowhere as easy as 2k urethane or even epoxy.
