"c" shaped spray pattern

C

cstrom72

I have cleaned my gun 3 or 4 times now and im still getting a pattern that looks like this ( instead of a straight cigar shape. Never had this problem before. Somewhere I read to check the fluid tip for a burr and the needle. Both look fine to me, I used a little 1500grit lightly on the end of the needle but have not tried it again. I laid down some epoxy with it and It sprays fine its just a slight C shape rather than a nice straight cigar like Its supposed to be. I definately want to get this figured out before I spray anymore... Thanks!!!

update: I popped on my 1.8 tip and shot some thinner thru it and no more c shape. Must have a burr or something inside the fluid tip. Before I would get the gun roughtly set up with some thinner then once I wsa ready id fill with primer and fine tune. With both materials I would get the c shape. At least I fixed that problem

Some guns require different needles to go with different size fluid tips.
IF one or more of the passages in the air cap are dirty/plugged you will get a ( instead of a cigar shape.

Clear coat can plug the tiny holes in the cap and when you hold it up to the light everything looks clean. May want to double check all the holes.

If there is a C shape fan, the first thing is to flip the air cap over and see if the C goes the other way. Then you know where the problem is.

when cleaning gun do you check/ look through your cap and nozzle with good backlighting?
