Base over fresh clear

I’m two toning my truck and ha to do this in two stages, both on weekends. I’m going to base whole truck then use universal clear over base. The next weekend I want to wet sand all the clear with 600, and fineline for my second color and mask. My question is will I have any problems spraying base over the 5-7 day old clear, then clearing both sides of the truck to bury the tape line?

It would be much less work to shoot both basecoats then clear. But to answer your question, you should be fine as long as you don't sand through the clear. If you do, you might have trouble in that area.

I agree , but I have to paint outside. I’ll have it masked to night before. Not daylight till about 7, then I got to seal with epoxy, let flash, then basecoat bottom color, if I waited un

Depending on the base. Some of the cheaper bases have long tape times. If you're using a quality base you can tape on it in an hour so and be on your way.

Just a friendly head ups, by having those layers of clear between the two colors the edge of the second color will look like it’s floating. It’s not a big deal but just don’t want you to be surprised. If you plan to have a pinstripe or trim that covers it then you’d never see it anyway.
