Wanted to run this by you members. I just picked up a Eaton Air Dryer an older unit from a shop that is going out of business. Working last week . The ball drain/ball float assy is all gummed up so I dissasembed it and cleaned it up .I feel maybe the rest of the unit is loaded with gunk and oil so maybe I should just foget about pluming it it in and not compromise my clean air system I have now. What do you guys think. as always Thanks Tom

Outside of the drain valve mechanism it should be just tubing, so flood it with liquid degreaser, carb cleaner, reducer, any solvent and let is stew awhile and blow it out and SEE.
We use a cleaner called Flush RX to clean A/C units internaly from burnouts, contamination and lineset conversions from the old refrigerant to the newer 410A on change outs. It's just more 'eco and EPA friendly'. Long ago we used a Refrigerant R11 for exactly this but EPA took care of It for us as well.

We would flush small dryers, chillers and hyd oil coolers once a year in the slow season. Using a transfer pump or a little giant hook it up and let it run for a day or two then flush it again to neutralize it depending on what flushing agent we were using.
