69 RS Camaro Restoration project

Started this car almost a year ago. I've been working other projects during that time so this one has taken me longer then i expected. I'm in the cutting and buffing stage now. It's a friends car i i almost didn't take on this car because it was so rusty and i knew it was going to be a big job and i don't normally get into this type of job because it takes so long and the expense to the customer start to get out of hand. The deeper i got into the car the more stuff i found that was wrong. Let's face it the car is not worth what he has invested into it now but will be a nice driver. I think he has $46,000.00 into the car including my price to redo what i did. This is the starting pictures. All products were SPI. IMAG1020.jpg

Looks great! Did you do single stage or base clear?
Base clear SPI Black and Universal Clear...4.4 voc one. I love the stuff. And it spots in and blends like on other clear i have ever worked with.

Looks like a sweet project, I've re-bodied and restored a few of these myself.. And you are very correct, it is very easy for expenses to get out of hand and VERY expensive..

Nice work though!!

looks good, judging by the outer wheelhouses and trunk drop offs it looks like it was a fairly solid car. No vinyl roof this time?

Yeah Bob the floor and trunk area were pretty solid. I had to do a few small patches in the passenger side wheel well and another one inside the trunk area. The customer decided to go without the vinyl roof this time...it had the normal rust growing under all the clips and other areas under the vinyl around the seams. I'm just glad to be coming to a end on the build...I see your work and I only wish I was as talented as you are. These types of job are just more then I like to get into for just doing it for a hobby. Today marks a full year that I have had the car. Of course I've done other small work between this and having another child put a huge dent into getting the time out in the shop...Oh and the honey due list..lol
