Have any of you tried the Accuspray guns with the replaceable heads for any or all of the refinishing steps?

we used the 1.8 for the .004 metalflake and it did a really nice job. It has a really big fan for clear, but did not atomize enough, although we never gave it a 1/2 inch hose to try. The same needle is for the 1.4 or 1.8 heads, the 2.0 gun has a thicker needle.. Its a perfect primer gun, we use it with our Military CARC, the orange 2.0 head in the pressured cup works better for the waterborne CARC because its like spraying whipped cream. There is always a guy on ebay selling them for 100, most websites are up to 138-150. ZORO was a good deal on the replaceable heads, but as long as you keep your needle clean (thats what she said) you will have alot of good spraying with this gun. I plan to go to that slick sand type filler primer and have no doubt the 2.0 will handle it nicely. He actually just pours thinner in thru the little spout you hook the pps gun to and it sprays clean that fast before you replace them.

What tip did you use for the clear? Would increasing the pressure a little help?

Used them quite a lot in my previous job, mostly for primers with the 1.8 tip. Very fast and easy to clean, and after some time, just replacing the tip makes it like new again. Had a gun that one nozzle retaining clip broke off, and one had the fitting screw in the handle start turning free from the body, probably someone tightened the fitting without holding it with a wrench, but didn't keep it from working good. Other than that a great gun if you use 3M's PPS liners and cups.

I personally liked them for primer, but I still prefer the feel of a quality gun for the rest.

Unfortunately, when we did the metal flake job, we had yet to find a 1.4 tip. I guess its right when they came out and all they had were 1.8

I agree. The best primer gun I have used due to the easy clean up. There are 1.2 and 1.3 tips being released now that may work for clear. I have used the 1.4, 1.8 and 2.0 with success. The 2.0 with a pressure cup will spray raptor liner!

I just sprayed epoxy reduced about 35-40% through the 1.4 and laid down very nice, color me impressed.

Used it to seal some Tacoma fender flares and worked pretty good, next time around will try a bigger panel.

I tried two with a 1.8 tip and both leaked. That was when they first came out. Sprayed fine and easy clean up but we just didn't get along so I took them back and bought a protek gun. I know one shop that uses them daily and get good results.

For $130 it's worth a shot.

I used a 2.0 with slick sand & wasn't thrilled with it. I grabbed a tcp global gun with a 2.5 and am much happier with that.

Bought a protek gun made of stainless,or whatever hard material that's not plastic throw away parts for $140. Like I said I didn't get along with it, tried two because first one kept leaking. Distributor was pushing them around here but didn't work so out of 8 shops only one still uses them. Seemed like a waist to me to have to keep buying replacement tips when regular guns don't but then again I do use pps cups so I guess that's just as bad.
