Patch panel fab or buy decision

Chris Thanks - you got me started and now I was able to watch a total amateur video of one being used. I get the idea clearly but will hopefully but have to use it much if at all. Thanks again Dave

Flat bed- what paint and qty?

I’m helping another nephew with a project. We will be sandblasting a pickup size flatbed and need to paint it black. Would some please recommend a “paint product “ that will be sufficient for the vertical sides and headache rack. A starting point on quantity would be so helpful. He intends to...

A bit more progress last week. We scuffed and re epoxied the front axle. The silver look is gone thanks to the tips received. Also scuffed and epoxied the new springs for the 6” lift. A few more small pieces and we will be able to start assembling the suspension.

Epoxy turns from black to silver

Thank you for all your comments. In the end we took the differential back in scuffed it and re-shot it in the shop and ran some torpedo heaters on propane. I just had my nephew check it out and everything is black as it supposed to be. Eventually will get the waste oil burner furnace running but...

Epoxy turns from black to silver

After referring to the manual- I appreciate the page reference- it seems that I just cut it to close. We began Saturday afternoon (see photo) with nice weather forecast. Should I razor test it? Should I blast and start over or will another coat resolve it? I’m very curious as to why it only...

Epoxy turns from black to silver

Ok I’m sure I did something dumb but don’t know what it could be. We blasted and epoxied a front axle on Rileys 79 k10. Did the same as on the other axle and frame. Sandblasted, epoxied 3 coats of unreduced 30 minutes apart. A few days later the front axle turned from black to a silver in a lot...

This may sound impossible BUT this axle we epoxied Not to long ago was black but has since turned SILVER!!! Please help me understand. The picture can be deceiving due to the lighting but a good portion of this axle has changed colors. Sandblasted it and did 3 coats of Epoxy 30 minutes apart...

Good News ! I bought a used Auto -Twirler for $1000. It’s in good shape. One problem solved. Riley and I finished the final coats of Epoxy after scuffing the first coat on the frame down and re shot it. About 2 weeks ago. This last we’re blasted and Epoxy costed both front and rear axle...

    Media Blasting

I blasted a truck frame Saturday and Epoxy painted it. The blasting took 5 hrs with a 400 lb pot and 125 cfm compressor. It went through 1800 pounds of sand being careful not to waste sand and was very thorough in my cleaning. . I was working comfortably in a tyvex suit and Apallo 600 blast...

    1979 K10

I priced some Materials to build one and have drawings to build from but the cost was $1000 to by the uncut lengths of material. I’m capable of building one as I have experience in metal fab but is it really worth the effort when I can pick up used ones around that same price. I saw this...

Lol. Perfect pun! Thanks. it has given me a true appreciation for what a real rotisserie will do when doing body work. That’s now much higher up the list of needs. Dave

My Friend Riley (15 years old) got his first vehicle the second week of April. It’s a 1979 Chevy K10. It’s pretty rough of s body but it was the truck he wants so we are taking on the challenge. He prepared to do a frame up restoration. The time line is that it should be done by the time he’s...

    Truck crossmember removal or not?

So So glad I asked. Any rust behind and in between the crossmembers and so forth will just have to be. Thanks for saving me from the Deep End of the pool guys. I will just pay special attention to get in the tight frame areas the best we can and Epoxy thoroughly. Dave

    Truck crossmember removal or not?

That’s what my fastener supplier said also. Thanks for the confirmation. Just not sure what I’m getting into disassembling the entire frame. Seems like the way to go for best long term results. Only want to do this project once! Thanks Dave
