Even a full strength the white epoxy doesn't cover well. So if the goal is a consistent color to spray over, then 2 coats full strength and wet sand is how I would proceed.
Now if you just want it sealed one coat reduced will handle that.

I like to guide coat and then wet sand with 600 prior to shooting base. It is the surest way to have a great looking paint job in my opinion.
Of course, I mainly do restoration work so my way is not the quickest.
