Windshield pinchweld install..

Replacing the lower windshield pinchweld on a 55 Chevy. I'm guessing these were spot welded and then the front edge seam sealed ? I'm kinda leaning towards welding the entire front edge to make it smooth and ensure no water penetration into the gap. Any thoughts ???

Yes, they were spot welded, but the only sealer was between the window gasket and the pinch weld. The problem is that the gasket gets dry and looses the seal due to hardness or cracks. It seems that nobody wants to replace the gasket until its too late.

Nobody ever checks the drain holes down on the bottom side of the car either, and that is where the rust starts quite often.

Thanks Chevman. I've got it screwed in place and all fitted up. Just wonder if I should take the time to weld the seam where you see the primer and E coat meet ? I'll weld where the factory spot welds go. just not sure about that seam?
