I needed a better way to pour. I used rosin core solder to avoid acid core, sanded the tube in/out with 320. Scrubbed the daylights out of everything with purple power then Dawn. My biggest fear is somehow contaminating the paint with the copper or the solder. The lid came off a can of oil based enamel. All traces of the original enamel were stripped.

Very ingenious but waaaay too much work for me. $10 reusable mixing bank lid is what I use.
We talk about different methods in this thread:http://www.spiuserforum.com/index.p...thod-to-pour-from-gallon-can.7133/#post-77581
LOL. I questioned the local jobber about mixing lids and he said his were $25?? and seemed reluctant to make them available. The store bought plastic pour lids got bad reviews. I had the stuff on hand thought "let's give it a shot". Gonna mix some epoxy tomorrow, we'll see how it works.

And again, I'd like to thank everyone on the forum for being helpful and tolerant for us beginners.

Eureka!
My little hack worked perfectly.
Cleaned it after use with lacquer thinner and it's good to go again.
