Time to refinsh the aluminum coping around my pool. I was considering just going with SPI white Epoxy but was a bit concerned that it would not be UV stable. Am I better off shooting it with SPI Epoxy then going over top with a high quality white 2K single stage??

I agree with Jim, we have had people tint and do epoxy in pools for coating the whole pool under water and a lot have used the epoxy for trim work.
My problem is yes the epoxy will work but it's not made for this type of application and I can't say if it will last 3 years or 8 years or chalk in 9 months.

Copy That guys - SS white over top it is. Now to find a high quality 2K SS Flat or Matte white. Probably only need a quart do do this project. I see SEM and TCP Global have a product they call Hot Rod Flat.

Thanks for the input

the hot rod flats is far from high quality. it gets the job done i guess but be warned that they arent kidding when it says flat. its extremely flat. so flat it chalky. its also water thin. sem has hot rod black which is nice. last i checked they only made it in black. your best bet will be to goto your local jobber and get a good quality ss and some flattener and mix it yourself. prepackaged flat white is going to be hard to find.

Thanks Jim,

I was afraid of that. I have a custom paint guy that just did some flat red on a GTO steering column. I'll get with him and see if he'll mix me up some SS flat white.

I learned hard way never paint worn concrete pools with pool epoxy.
Claimed high solids lasts years ect well..
10 gallons, $1000, wow how great it is! I told everyone. Dirt, green stuff, everything just slid right off so nice.
1 year later, chalk galore, clog filter every time i vacuum, was mistake.
Pool guy had to torch it till it popped off entire pool (extra $1000) added to resurface with diamond brite.
Aluminum wheelchair ramp in pool also was painted, stripped & epoxied with best marine bottom epoxy..same story.
Painted ramp again 2yrs ago with rustolium industrial epoxy, same story. Need to redo ramp in stainless.

Never epoxy pool. Top cap you're looking to do would probably be good 2 yrs. Single stage good idea.
