We haven't hit the bottom yet. It'll continue to drop until there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Something positive about the pandemic. I fully expect it's going to go down several thousand more points. If we are lucky.

To answer your question Eddie, Shine is at the "tail end of where the hell are we road.":)

I think Shine's the one who I learned from what VPA means, and how good it is.
Heck with stock bs. Spoke more about it in last post then I care to for another 10yrs. Paint's so much more fun.

I've been retired for 25 years with a pension, social security and investment portfolio. Seems like a good time to change the portfolio from dividend payout to dividend reinvestment. Not worried about the market because rich people hang out there and they will fix it. I worry about the people lwho are being laid off because everything is shutting down. Most of my 9 grandkids work in service industries and that has a ripple effect. No paycheck, no tips means no rent money. Landlord doesn't last long when nobody has rent money. Bank forecloses and with enough empty stock, real estate market tanks again. Miss a few car payments and you have no way to get to work when things get better. It's not politics, it's real life.

Lol you called "panic and fear is real virus". Except no, the real virus is sickness, that's why people die. Also, loved the part about you not getting irony about toiled paper

Look, we are all in this together. A key component to getting through this pandemic is to stay calm and not overreact by buying out the store shelves, which is what I was referring to when I said "buying toilet paper will not slow the spread". This virus is bad enough without people panicking and making it worse. Seniors, in particular, should not be out in public more than necessary, but are being forced to go to multiple stores looking for meat, canned goods, vegetables, etc., because people are panicking and buying everything they can get their hands on. This creates more opportunity for them, the most vulnerable, to become infected. Call in grocery shopping now has a 3-4 day wait, which is hard for some to do when they've run out of essentials. This is not because of a food shortage, it is because of panic, which always makes a bad situation worse.

Absolutely agree. But people are people, and someone started it and next day You are going to store to buy food for longer period because you see half empty shelves.

I don't think 627 people are dead last 24 hours in Italy because of panic and fear. We don't need to underestimate this thing

Average age of the dead in Italy is 81 years old.

People die of all sorts of things everyday. The facts are, as of today, only 201 people have died in the US. Of those 201 almost all had a pre-existing condition. And every one of those 201 were over the age of 50 as well. So we shut the whole country down over this? Absolute insanity.
It is not going to kill a healthy person. If you are healthy and get it, symptoms are mild or none at all. If you are healthy you are not going to die.
I wish I could be as positive as some of you, but the ugly truth is we have never seen an almost complete shutdown of the economy, virtually overnight before. If this madness ends in a few weeks.....or if people say to "hell with this", the economy could recover fairly quickly. If this extends for several months it's going to be much worse. Like Bob said, this starts a ball rolling that can have a lot of unforeseen consequences.

Everyone google "SWINE FLU PANDEMIC" where was the panic? We didn't change a single thing in our lives. Swine flu killed children, young people more than it did the elderly. CDC estimated up to 18,000 people died in the US, up to 1800 children as well. Unreal. Maybe because of who was President????
From the CDC. Additionally, CDC estimated that 151,700-575,400 people worldwide died from (H1N1)pdm09 virus infection during the first year the virus circulated.** Globally, 80 percent of (H1N1)pdm09 virus-related deaths were estimated to have occurred in people younger than 65 years of age. This differs greatly from typical seasonal influenza epidemics, during which about 70 percent to 90 percent of deaths are estimated to occur in people 65 years and older

Read this page and be amazed. There was none of this type of over the top response. It was far worse than corona virus.

So You are giving number of deaths from swine flu for the whole year? But Corona virus is here for how long? 1 month?
Did you check death rate ? For swine flu it's around 0.02 %, for Corona is 2-3%.
I don't get the point of why I should be chill because of fact that virus targets older people more than young.
And, 3rd confirmed case in MN, in my county, 20 miles from me, 30 years old man, and is in critical condition

My mom is 65 and for last 5 years she fought cancer. She is not healthy for sure. I'm pretty sure half of siblings for each person here will get under category "unhealthy".

We don't have enough data to determine the mortality rate yet. Meaning there are many people who may have it that are asymptomatic. When it's all said and done the mortality rate is going to be much lower. Everybody is so worried about what could happen versus what is actually happening.
If you dig into it I can guarantee that man you are talking about had a pre-existing condition.
Let's say it's only been a month versus the 10 months of the swine flu pandemic. 201 deaths x 10 months would be 2010 possible deaths versus 12000-18000 actual deaths here in the US. And healthy people were more susceptible to it. See my point? This is overblown on an epic scale.

Well we have to work with available data right now. And it shows 2-3 percent death compare to 0.02 .
About that man- half of people I know, including myself can't be called healthy. I have a lot of people who are old and who I love
And your math has serious mistake.

black swan event, followed by herd mentality and fueled by the news media. As Soros said, the markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent. $1000 check for individuals will do nothing. What's critical is the sustainability of businesses who are shut down, zero revenue, but fixed overhead burning through cash. Many will not survive a long term shut down. The ripple effect will last years.
I'm starting two more builds, so will be needing more SPI paint soon. Keep supporting the economy.
