What should go on first on bare fiberglass

I'm building a '67 vette restomod. I had the body media blasted which left it with varying degrees of roughness. Many areas will need more than just paint, ie it will need filler IMO.
I seems easier for me to skim coat the body with filler first, then block sand and apply epoxy and go from there. However most on the forum seem to start with epoxy over a bare substrate then filler. Am I compromising the quality of the job by applying the filler first, then epoxy?

I asked the same question about a month ago when I was ordering more epoxy. I was told to shoot epoxy and go from there. So thats what I did and I'm happy with the results. I was just working on a glass L88 hood for my chevelle which had been blasted with crushed glass. I cleaned it real good with wax and grease remover and shot two coats of epoxy. Then 10 hours of blocking and I got it perfect.

I think one of the best reasons for shooting the epoxy first is not breaking into the itchy gel coat when you are sanding the filler.

corvettes were built with a relatively weak resin . no gelcoat but rather a primer type polyester resin. it is porous and will suck up moisture or solvents . main reason e started gelcoating them in the early days. epoxy ill seal it down and give you a strong base to work on . i use only epoxy for build on vettes.
