we sold our farm land . paid off all debt including uncle sams blood money on capitol gains . so i am retiring from the car business all together . selling off the fleetlines and the blasting business . getting a big ass dumpster to clean out my shop . if i aint used it in 25 years i aint likely to need it .

i had a good run . 50 years is long enough . shit damn near killed me anyway . toying with the idea of trying to build my falcon gasser but just not sure i can do it physically . we'll see .

I was going to say congratulations! You've worked hard for a long time. Time to relax and take care of your health! Just don't leave the forum please.

best advice i can ever give is how not to do it . gotta lot of experience at that . hell i change my mind like a gal changes shoes . would like to build my gasser but my last surgery they cut through the nerves that control some of my abdominal muscles . when i work i tend to get the charlie horse from hell in my side . hurts like hell so i'm limited on how much i can do . trying to retrain myself to go slow and steady instead of hair on fire wide open .
i can say this though , it is a nice feeling to wake up in the morning knowing i dont owe any damn body for anything .

i'll hang around , somebody has to aggravate the hell out of barry to keep him on his toes ........ :)

Having no debt and no customers to answer to is gonna be nice! Take to your Falcon Gasser like a hobby...best thing is do what you want when you want. Your posts are my go-to on these forums...your knowledge, experience, and no-nonsense insight is awesome. Take it easy and yes, stick around to keep not only Barry but the rest of us on our toes!

That's awesome you got everything paid, that will let you breath one hell of a sigh of relief. Congrats my friend, I'm happy for ya.

I don't know what State you live in but, I live in Springfield, Missouri. I'm offering to help you in any fashion so you can build your gasser. No strings attached whatsoever. You don't know me from Adam but, I'm no whacko. Just a man who enjoys cars and working with is hands. I could give you 16 hours a week worth of help.

You sure about the Falcon as a "last harrah?" Big block Chevy II would be amazing... just saying.
Anyway, best wishes and fair winds. Congrats!

appreciate it but i'm in Texas . i've got a few car guys who will help , i live in the country 60 miles from them though . i have my 17 year old godson to help with much of the heavy stuff . he's almost a gearhead . i told him i would teach him to paint his own but would kill him if he tried to do it for a living . he has his folks 55 ht i built for them 30 years ago .
falcon will be smf / tunnel ram /4 speed car . i have every piece to build it with . been collecting parts for several years .
i would love to build a 66 nova like one i had when i was young . it was built from a all original 35k mile car . did not even need paint . it was marina blue with black interior . but you cant find a nova at a decent price anymore .

That's enough to make ya throw up, I know I sure would be. That dam thing just won't leave you alone.

If you properly pace yourself according to your specific conditions and refrain from being over ambitious, work can be fun & help you live longer rather than the other way around. We all need something to look forward to. Too much sitting and watching the news sure won't help you live any longer.
Been cut open myself a few times, you got me wondering if some of my cramping problems are nerve damage related. Taking different sorts of magnesium tablets & liquids help, fixing to try salt tablets next which help some guys. Wish the living hell I couldn't relate with you on that subject. Sucks when you cramp so bad people think you're having a heart attack or something.

Membership to our exclusive club here doesn't expire. Hanging around here should give you a feeling of being useful & needed, because you are.
Don't let yourself fall into that ole rut of feeling sorry for yourself when instead you can feel sorry for all the dumbasses that could use your help.;)

Friend just told me to try pickle juice when getting cramps to replace electrolytes & swore it works for him.. worth a try.
Just read up on it & supposedly it also triggers something in the brain to stop cramps, not just electrolyte replacement.
Google it.
At this point I'm willing to try just about anything short of seeing another worthless doctor. Or something gay:oops:

i'm dealing with nerve damage. they cut a group of nerves that control my right side abdomen muscles . kinda like a short circuit sometimes . doc wants me to use a patch when it happens but i'm usually under a car or on a tractor . if it continues i may have to give in and carry one with me .

Cramps- my elder neighbor & her card game friends carry mustard packets in purse.
She says eating one helps. My father gets terrible leg cramps for yrs, doesn't work for him but worth a try.
I get serious spasms (c7 paraplegic) and baclofen is med i've taken for 30yrs. Without it i'd be toast.
Cbd i've tried, helped a little but, that's more of a bedtime not worktime med.
Try 20mg baclofen. I take 7x that now throughout day & bedtime.
