Wax question....

I normally dont wax cars before they leave since most of the time im not doing the final assembly, but this case is slightly different and the car is leaving 100% done... Plus the guy is kind of older and i dont think he has much interest in detailing so im just trying to hook him up. Some of the paint is weeks old and some is days....Just trying to be cautious here.

You don't want to put any type of wax on it for at least 6 months. I believe Barry states the same in the Tech Manual. Putting it on too soon is a good way to ruin a paint job. Get some of the detail spray from Wizards or Chem Guys or Auto Geek. Mist on wipe off with a microfiber cloth.

Leave it out in sun all you can first is my advice. I waxed mine after a month or 2 & no problems.
I used Collinite paste & totally understand for preventing bird & bug stains.
Tell him you suggest nothing for 6 months first.

Had my bumper replaced recently on an insurance claim. The shop said NO washing or waxing for 90 days and that is with the minimal amount of clear you can get away with..

I didnt put any on. All these years I never have, no reason to start now. For some reason i thought I read that carnuba was breathable.

That wax has polymers, a big no-no. There are carnuba waxes without polymer additives out there. I have used the Mother's brand on week old paint with no problems, but YMMV.

I think the last time I bought wax was when I was about 17 and trying to shine up my beater shitbox camaro! I'm 42 now so you can understand why I posted this thread asking, lol

The Carnauba is considered paint safe and can be applied next day after painting because it breaths and paint must breath.

Glad to hear that Barry. For me it's mandatory cause i drive 1 as other sits covered outside.
Makes cleaning hassle free. Good hard rinse no soap & bugs come off much easier.

@Barry
Which carnauba do you recommend. I know some are blended with polymers like Crash says and those are a big no-no.

True carnauba like this?

Seems the cheaper a wax is the more you have polymers and silicones in my experience.
