Want WANDA

Hello people,View attachment 3779
I thought I would use “WANDA” for my base. I base that decision on what I have read on this forum.
How much product for 1 coat of WANDA? Or how do I figure it? I will use probably 2 or 3 coats.

I understand that "dutchman" sells "WANDA" I need him to contact me or if someone has a better idea please share it with me.

I want to do a light blue color which SPI does not sell...is that correct?
I plan to use a SS with the last coat mixed 50% base. & 50% clear..I think Barry suggested that..correct?

Does this plan look OK? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

I found Wanda,
I live in Oregon and found a place in Portland who sells it. Nice people and very helpful.
I went and got myself confused again though.
The fellow I dealt with said that there is no "activator" needed... just reducer for WANDA base.
I thought that all good base coats needed an 'activator".
I plan to use SPI epoxy primer/SPI sanding primer/regular blend and SPI Clear Coat.
I am using a "solid" color of light blue.
Did I get the correct base coat product? Can I put an "activator" in this base and perhaps making it a better product.
Where did I go wrong?
There are a "Brazillion" painters on this forum who said that Wanda was the product to use.
Maybe Barry can clear this up.
Thanks,
Doug

I'm no pro, but if it mixes like prospray you can add a cap full of clear activator to a quart of mix paint. I'm sure the more experienced will chime in!

Thanks Joe,
I don't know how I miss so much.:) My wife has accused me of reading everything there is on the internet. I just agree with her and inform her that I need to start over because I missed so much the first time:)

Doug, we have always used an ounce or under to a mixed quart of Wanda, works great.
Re you email Doug call Monday if that works for you.

Barry,
I wish I did not need to bother everyone with my NOOBE question...but, I R one:)

Noob questions are good, it allows people like me who are new also to learn from your questions and answers.I could most likely write a novel on what not to do by my learning mistakes and this website. dougtio I also live in Oregon, Grants Pass and wish to find a supplier of quality base to use, if you wouldnt mind could you post a phone number of the supplier in Portland to contact?

We had a quarter panel to repaint on a stratus, car is pretty beat up, so we werent going top of the line anything, just getting rid of the damage a cement truck did to the quarter. We just asked for a decent base from our local shop and got wanda. It was decent, found out its Azko Nobel brand. Worked fine with the house reducer. Didnt add any hardener, just sprayed it 2:1. Its the bone white dodge color so it took a little more than expected to cover. Pretty clean paint. Only suggestion I have is to buy a little more than you figure you need to not have to worry about getting another batch to finish up.

Do you guys ever add the base to the sealer to get faster coverage with the basecoat around here?

From what I've read in here, most painters might choose to tint the sealer with 10% of high quality toner. Adding more than
that might weaken the product.

A brand of basecoat. Inexpensive, but good quality. From what I've read on here it's because they don't have much, if any, customer support.

ok, I get lost so easy in this forum. I guess thats why its here.

Wanda is supported by the Jobber supplying the product. So customer support is great with the right jobber.

Wanda is a brand of basecoat produced by Akzo Nobel. Polyester-based resins.
