VPA pinholes & epoxy

Hi all,

I recently started the initial body work on an old Bronco I'm building where I did the following...

1. Welded up some new fender flares and smoothed out the welds.
2. Sprayed Epoxy primer on the bare metal
3. Applied VPA (Vette Panel Adhesive) over the welds
4. Sanded down the VPA with 80 grit in preparation for the next layer of filler with Rage Ultra

During the sanding process I noticed a lot of pinholes in the VPA where I probably did not apply enough pressure when applying it. I have things fairly smooth but as could be expected, I sanded through to bare metal in a lot of areas around the filler. I was going to spray another coat of Epoxy and apply the Rage Ultra, but I'm worried about all the pinholes in the VPA. Should I try to fill them first (before epoxy), sand them out, or is it OK to seal them with Epoxy and then start the next layer of filler with Rage Ultra?

Thanks, Mike

Having pinholes in vpa means you went too thick at one time or a combination of other things. I'd probably heat it up with hairdrier & pick around with razorblade to help any other possible airbubbles to surface & existing holes to open up & reskim light on thickness & heavy with pressure either with more vpa or quality filler.
Could also blow on with air nozzle first.

evil painter - thanks. I blew out all the pinholes and removed edges the best I could. I sprayed another coat of Epoxy and will do better on the next filler application (Rage Ultra). Still a noob.

Oldtimer - I used VPA to go over the weld area based on other posts I read in the SPI forums.
