Vaper 1.4 vs Vaper 1.4

Hello folks. I read recommendations om a Vaper 1.4 for epoxy, and picked one up off Amazon.

I decided to spend a few extra dollars and get the version with the aluminum (or stainless?) cup.

The gun does say Vaper on the packaging, however it appeara to be different than the 1.4 with the plastic cup. Different mold, different color, different knob.

Not impressed with the casting or quality, casting marks, etc.

Anyone have input on the green 1.4 Vaper gun vs the chrome one?

I paid about 85 with tax but dont feel it was worth the money. Replace with the regular 1.4 that everyone refers to?

Thank you.

What are you planning to do with this gun?
Most people by the larger 2.5 tip for hosing on primer. If you are wanting to shoot base and clear then don't waste your money on this gun.

Epoxy primer. Have a 2.3 but the hood on my project is fiberglass so I ended up going with epoxy, which is why the need for the smaller tip.

I was considering shooting single stage as well, as it will be my first paint project and I want to build some skill first, then probably an Iwata lph400 lv.

I considered just going with the iwata for both primer and SS but the vaper seema to be well spoken of for primer.

Thank you for the time to reply.

You can spray the epoxy with the 2.3 if you are using it as a build primer, but normally it is used for 2K or polyester primer. Just turn the fluid knob in all the way, then back it out 2 turns or so. If you are spraying the epoxy as a final coat before paint, just use the Iwata that you will use for the SS.

Thank you, that sounds like a plan. But on the original question, anyone aware of the difference on the two guns? Just curious, being the same brand and model but different gun.

It's an $85 paint gun, at that point it could have been manufactured in a different location.....not sure. If you are looking for an inexpensive gun, HF has a new line of cheaper guns that would fit the bill for priming, and im not talking about the $15 purple gun, lol

I believe they are 2 different models. I have had much better luck with the metal cup chrome version. I got 2 for 75.00. one with 1.7 and one with a 2.2 i believe. I use for primer only .If you keep them clean they are a pretty goods gun.
