Did yiu spray the vette yet,,if so how did it go what nozzle did you use 1.3 or 1.4,,im trying to buy the same iwata gun with same nozzle for clear only with 1.3,,im trying to make it work switching from PPG clrear to SPI clrear,, i know im having a little trouble spraying the euro with a 4000 hvlp 1.3 this clear is THICK lol (i know it calls for 1.4 nozzle) but im getting a new gun just not sure with what nozzle to get..any info on this from.your experience.
I tried a Supernova EVO HD 1.3 and I found it slow for completes.

So I ordered a 1.4 and I really like that gun, specially if spraying the 4100-1 and 5100-1 clears.

I have no clue about the nozzle price, I just ordered the gun as a 1.4.

With Iwata at least you can order the nozzle separately and no need to buy the air cap or needle, with SATA they force you to buy the 3 parts as a set.

I just picked up both of the newer iwata's, however I don't have anything to spray at the moment.. anxious to try them out.

A friend asked Barry about using a 1.3 in a 5000RP for a complete. Barry said that is fine north of the Yankee/Rebel line. Had to do with humidity levels.

I haven't sprayed UV with the 5000RP yet but several other brands I have on overalls and I can attest to the 1.3 being a great gun for overalls. Sprays like the 2000 RP 1.4 except better atomization. I love it.

I f you own a 1.3 5000 RP (or any other Sata) you can buy the 1.4 Nozzle and needle set for less than $200 on Ebay new. Then you'll have the capability to do anything clearcoat wise. The 1.4 is a real hoser.

Do you know if the evotech ws400 1.4 nozzle is the 5910 P# ? Iknow for th 1.3 set up is 5905

According to NorthernDave in this thread, the 500RP 1.3 measures out closer to a 1.5.

I have the 5000 RP with both 1.4 and 1.3.

To me the 1.4 is a bit too much, no matter how I tried to dial in the gun I never liked the way it laid down the clear. So I bit the bullet and ordered the 1.3 nozzle set and now I really enjoy using that gun. I find it great for completes.

The only time I use the 1.4 setup is when I shoot matte black SS, I shoot it a bit further than regular clear and gives a very nice big fan, perfect for that application .

I've said it before I'll probably say it again :) the Sata 5000 RP 1.3 is by far the best clear gun I've ever used.

Care to share your gun settings and what SPI products you spray with it?

You got me curious about it, and yes it's a very nice gun.

I bought a Tekna Pro with the 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 tips when I switched over to SPI since I only had my old SATA 3000 RP 1.3 for clear. After a few tries, I still found my old Sata to be pretty good. It's soon going to be a year since I switched to SPI, I used my 1.3 RP with the low voc Euro all winter and work was coming out very nice. It helps that I have many years of experience with that gun. But there is also some time needed with each gun and product to get used to it. I have a complete to spray next week and was planning on using the Tekna.

Jorge this is going to sound caveman like.......very low tech. I set all my guns by "feel" Years ago i would go by the manufacturers recommendations regarding air pressure and found them to be way to low for my tastes. I don't even own a regulator at the gun...lol. What I do is set the pressure at the wall (regulator in the booth) to about 50 psi or so. I'm not really sure as the regulator gauge is kinda hard to see with overspray on it. Then I have some masking paper on the wall. I'll test whatever I'm shooting and see how it sprays. If it's atomizing nice I'll turn it down until it doesn't then turn it up just enough until it does. Sometimes a little more. As for the Sata 5000 RP 1.3 I generally shoot clear 1 3/4 to 2 turns out just kinda depends. If you live in an area the isn't VOC regulated don't be afraid to turn up your air pressure.A good start for UV Clear would be 2 turns out, fan opened all the way and enough air pressure so that it's atomizing nicely. That's pretty much the setting I use for all clears. Usually will spray with little or no peel. You may want to choke it down if you don't spray at the same speed I do. But I think it's best for a painter to spray faster as it's easier to be consistent versus trying to spray slower.

One thing that impressed me was how easy it was to spray with it the first time I used it. It atomizes so nice and you really notice that right away.

We're not too far apart in gun setup.

I usually have the fluid 2 turns open and full fan.

Pressure I never choke the regulator at the wall, I use a regulator at around 27-30 psi depending on the clear I'm using. Haven't had too many opportunities to use it with the 4100 Universal though, I've only sprayed Universal with it twice.

Still trying to get that elusive mirror finish.

Thanks for your feedback, gives me something to think about and experiment more.
