UV clear question

So I haven't used the UV clear yet. I'm curious though why does the uv clear have to flash for 30 minutes before recoat doesn't that seem a little long? All the other clears I've used only say it's about a 15 minute window on recoat. Does the 30 minute window really help when doing several coats of UV clear? Also how far does the UV clear go? I'm looking to do a full clear on my 1965 mustang coupe. I want it to be extremely durable and have a great shine. How many layers of clear should I do? And about how much product should get me there?
I also am going to spray my 1985 k10 single cab long bed pick up. I'm doing a full repaint and I'm going to need clear for it as well. I'm not spraying the inside of the bed. for the bed im going to spray a bed liner. How much clear and base sounds about right?

I put 5 coats on sportbike last time I did one. It turned out fine. I waited 30 minutes between coats.

the best a tech sheet can do is give an average flash that will work in most spray conditions and error to the safe side so your actual flash could be 10 min, could be 30 could be 45-60. in most cases i find the uv clear to be quite fast. 30 min this time of year at 55-60 deg may be necessary but if you have alot of airflow and its 70-80 you might only need 10 min. also the first coat in any situation will flash faster than the 2nd and 3rd so thats just something else to take into account. just touch some masking tape that has a full coat on it. if you touch it very light and your finger doesnt stick to it then your ready for the next coat

Awesome I figured it would just depend on how it flashed just like any other product. I just was curious if there was another reason for the 30 minute flash. I will be spraying my mustang and truck in a booth so a flash time should be quick. Last time I cleared which was Friday my flash time on another brand clear was about 15 minutes. Does the tacky to touch rule still apply with the UV clear? Some people say its flashed when the clear is like this but they also time the products as well.

Remember if you are doing production work (two coats) 5-15 minutes is fine, reason we have 30 minutes is for jobs of three or more coats as the mils are building up fast and solvents slow down.
Like said, every application and conditions are different.

Awesome thank you for the responses. I'm going to be getting the BC/CC, and all my other supplies that my instructor doesn't have for me to be able to use. We're both excited to see how the SPI shoots and polishes. I'm sure with how good everyone's reviews are Youll have another life long customer.

I've done that strategy before on seeing if the clear is tacky but not sticky. I just was making sure there wasn't a really strict guide lines on flash times on he UV clear. I realize that evaporation of the gases from the clear just depends on cataylist amongst others things though. But it doesn't hurt to double check.
