Ok, I started a project using PPG Omni before I knew of SPI, once I use up my existing OMNI Epoxy primer can I start using the 2K from SPI on top, I want to use SPI from here out, if at not only due to the support, it sounds like a better product.
Thanks,
jerry

LOL, neither will buying their most expensive stuff.
Yes, it will get you to customer service that will read to you from a script or to the jobber who if is single line usually don't have a clue from the normal brain washing he gets from his supplier.

I hear the results of these calls everyday and the BS they have feed the customer.

"Our black base did not dry because you used the tan 3/4 inch tape on the car instead of the green tape." Sure would like to know where this guy got his training to work in customer service.

It is a well known fact that green tape gives off magical curing properties and when used CORRECTLY will give off the deepest sheen and longest durability...kinda like everyone wanting to know what kind of wax you use to get the car so glossy...haha

I thought Shine said blue tape was your friend. Maybe if I just put the green tape over the tan tape and hold it all down with the blue stuff my paint jobs will come out perfect. Finally, the real secrets of great paint jobs.

the few times ive had issues, ive been taken care of. but i guess thats rare. just gotta know the right people ;)

so, what does any of this have to do with my original post? I must have missed a post or 2 but I dont see them...

also, what is majors lowers?

Major's = big name paint company

Lowers = big name company's budget line of paint.

The topic suggests the big boys don't support their cheaper stuff.

I tell ya, i gues i've been lucky with akzo and my supplier...they've supported all their lines the same..sikkens, lesonal, and utech. Even when we used other brands and had problems, that particular company wouldn't support it to help us, but akzo did. I've never been given a bs answer to something from them. EVERY supplier/jobber isn't a crook. counting my blessings!!!

I really believe with the majors, its the jobber that makes all the difference.

I have a friend who is a jobber for a major that people bitch a lot about and his favorite saying is I will have an answer today or I will be getting a big wig out of bed tonight, with a phone call.

Of course some companies, like the tape answer, I posted are just plain losers and will never help anyway, the guy in customer service was smart as he asked if he had any unmixed base left and when the guy said no, that is when he said the tape deal.

My answer to the guy was, well you don't really want to hear but in short I said go buy PPG, Sikkens, Prospray or BASF.

That was a very loyal customer that company lost and I will put money down, that he will never buy an item from them again, yet all they would have had to do, is say, got a batch problem, get a new gallon on us. How simple is that, just tell the truth and replace? HUM.

No doubt. Makes me wonder why all these BIG companies dont have some sort of policy and be strict about it. I remember when matrix came to town and another paint store opened and carried it as their main line...they didn't know squat about the product. We flat out asked them if they really knew what they were selling...and they didn't..even admitted it. they just stocked it in the store and called it a day.

I like how akzo does it around here...not sure if its like this across the country but thats is all the store carries (akzo products). It is run by akzo themselves. I've really seen a decline in their service as of lately though..they are on the verge of losing a HUGE 30k a month account across the street. It is to the point where they dont even look at someone like me who only spends maybe 2-5k a month...was never like that a few years ago. Not bashing them but a spade is a spade. That's the reason i've been stuck on them for so long...never once had any of these horror stories you hear about.

Wish someone with some sense around here would pick up SPI!
