Top coating Universal Clear

Gents,

Long-time lurker; first post.

I have been following the guidelines from the Perfect Paint job. I DA’ed with 80 grit to bare metal, shot 2 coats of SPI Black Epoxy primer and applied my filler on top. Shot 3 coats of SPI 2K Regular Build, sanded, 3 more coats of Regular Build, sanded (and sanded and sanded; not very good at body work), and a few weeks later 1 coat of SPI Black Epoxy with reducer. The following day I shot 3 coats of House of Kolor Black Sparkle Pearl. The next day I shot 3 coats of Universal Clear. As I shot successive coats I got the hang of it and turned up the flow. Had some inevitable dirt nibs and certainly did not spray it on heavily enough as I have quite a bit of orange peel. Been sanding using 1000 grit Trizact.

My question is, will i have adhesion problems clearing over the 1000 grit Trizact? I have 800 wet/dry (not trizact), but I don’t want to have scratches show up on this dark color. When I sand with the 800, the scratch difference seems dramatic.

Been reading through these forums for quite a long time while preparing my car. Thanks in advance for the responses and thanks to all the regular posters that i have learned from.

I have attached some pics. Love how the color turned out haven’t gapped the panels for final assembly yet, so don’t be too harsh............

Thanks,

Troy
