I am hoping to paint my AMX in a similar paint scheme to the one in the picture.
I want to reverse the blue and the red. I've read I need about 1 1/2 gal of paint total but how would u split it up?
Front, engine bay and most of doors would be red. 3 qts?
Rear of car and inside truck blue. 2 qts?
Middle white. 1 qt enough or do I need or 2 qts?

Buy more than you think you will need. This way if something needs redone you'll have it. Plus it might take more than you think. Lots of factors determine how much is used.

If a good base is used I would think a quart of each would do it for an experienced painter, if not a lot of experience two quarts for the blue.

Grey primer, not sure yet thinking Wanda, jambs half white half red,

I know I will need more than a pro would use and I'm OK with having left over paint.

A good painter would use a qt of each? So 2 of the blue(the back), and 2 of white (middle) and 3 of red(front) sounds about right.
I can always use the red on the floor if I have a lot left over.

One other thing you might consider is SPI base for the red and white. Coverage is good and the prices are very reasonable. You might also consider buying a gallon of white(best value) and spraying the whole front half white(cheapest) before spraying your red(expensive) for easier coverage and less material. It is also a good idea to try and match your primer or sealers value(black to white) to the color you will be using. One trick is to mix sealer using white, gray, or black to match the colors value you will be spraying. As an example, the blue on your car will cover much better over a medium to dark gray than a light gray. I would probably start with 2 parts gray to 1 part black, stir it up, then stir your blue with another stick and hold the 2 sticks together. Look at the side tone to see if one is darker or lighter than the other. If the sealer is lighter, add more black, maybe half and half. Try and get the sealer side tone as dark as the color and coverage will be almost immediate. Color is expensive and you don't want any more base built up than necessary.
