Backyard Hack
Sprayed a little Saddle Tan DBC base today. This was by far the most challenging color I have sprayed. No drop coat. ;)

No I did not redo the seams. Owner comes from a long line of NCRS members who like to leave the factory seams intact on no hit cars with original panels. Who am I to argue? :). The customer is always right, right?

Hi Don -- That looks fantastic. That is the same color my 64 GTO is supposed to be. Given your client is a NCRS-type, I assume that he was happy with the match to factory color? Can you share the mix info for the DBC? Any help is appreciated...

Man - that laid down beautifully!

Well I didn’t ask him to approve the match. DBC was the only base I could find a mix for. No Motobase or Wanda etc. He had no sample to verify the match. He drove me a little crazy matching the two interior colors. Two colors and three gloss levels. :)

I’m not an originality kind of guy. He originally planned to have it done at a high end Corvette shop but he got booted out for nitpicking details on one of the shops jobs. :D. So now he’s slumming it at Hippy Hotrods :D

So is it Saddle Tan or Bronze Mist?
Assuming the can is right so I saved a picture of the vette and the can label. My wife fell in love with this color the moment she saw it.

Thanks Don - that is helpful. I wonder if the interior colors are the same - I'll have to research that. That vette is going to look killer with the clear on it.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I’ve said it many times but everything I know I learned on this forum. It is the best forum out there. Thanks to Chris, Texas, Jim and all the other pros who share their knowledge and experience with us backyard painters.

And thanks to Barry for making such awesome products!

Don
