Thinner coats

I also have a Sata 5000 rp with 1.3 and do as Chris with gun settings but i am all over the place with air pressure and reduction to adjust to the job. Just did a mirror at 23 lbs and 4:1::1.5 Like they say you can make this clear do what you want it to do. I do move on the fast side. Heck don't over think it just go with the flow Ha Ha
One caution to all of you, careful with the air pressure; if you're using a low grade clear, not enough solids to make a hill of beans.

Now high end clears when we have cold temps to low pressure can let some solvent suck moisture.
Im helping a situation like mention at least twice a week in this cold weather.

I should add if a temp controlled shop, and content of clear is also warm this does not apply.
Now one i worked on this week temp was great i booth but heat turned down to 55 at night and clear can
Inside a day later was 57 degrees.

back when i was custom painting sportbike fairings, many of those jobs by the time i was all done with the steps would have 20 coats of universal on them. dont know what the final mils were on those but i can say it was far more than anything we are talking about in this thread. i have had guys come back after they wiped the bike out and it all road rashed. i remember being able to take a fairing that i painted 2 years prior and had 20+ coats of clear on it and being able to bend the fairing in half and the universal would not crack, spider or delaminate anywhere.

I may add I use a electric oil filled radiator heater near my paint bench and always heat up my base, clears and primers before i spray them. Also my shop stays 65 to 70 during the winter months.
