The Coating Store/Urechem Candies

Hi guys, was thinking of trying Urechem candies on a car, anyone use them? Who makes the "best" candies, are they all similar? I was thinking Urechem silver base and then their apple red candy, followed by Universal clear. Thoughts?

I use Urekem base when I'm painting custom golf carts because it's an inexpensive paint and well, they're golf carts. The guy who started it is a former HOK chemist. I've never used one of their candies but the metallic BC I used all had really good coverage and metallic control. Some of the jobs are several years old, I haven't had any complaints on the longevity, but these golf carts are also kept inside too.

I've used that brand a few times on wall art projects. And my mail box. Silver with apple red. It'd going on 2 yrs this August and hasn't faded one bit. Spi clear

In fact, here is apple red over sterling silver.

no matter who you get a candy from, they dye itself is all the same. it comes from one manufacturer then the paint companies buy it and add it to their basecoat or urethane clear to make their candy that you use. so the color will be the same from one company to the next. hok red is the same as alsa's and basf's red for instance but the paint/binder its in is what is different or proprietary to that paint company.

Also, personal experience UREChem offers a KBC style basecoat which is just a ready to use Kandy, you just reduce it. I didn't really like it honestly. I just couldnt get it to spray nice. I'm sure it's 100% user error, but I really dont care to figure it out, dont need to!

I prefer to just order the concentrate and toss it in SPI intercoat.
