Anyone using the tekna basecoat gun? I was thinking of getting one and havent ever seen anyone use it. I spray base rn with a tekna copper. Love it made alot of money with that gun. And tekna prolite for clear. Also love it. Sprays slightly heavery than my copper. Just need a little feed back before i spend 4 or 5 hundred on a new one. Thanks

You can spray at lower pressure and still lays basecoat good, nice even fan, bigger droplets it feels like.

For spraying Envirobase water it’s very good as well, it gives a really smooth drop coat with waterborne paint.

No doubt I have talked to 100's that have used it and have never heard a negative word.

I purchased a tekna prolite initially for my clear gun and I loved it. However, I now use the tekna for base and use a SATA 5000 RP for clear. I believe the tekna prolite is my favorite gun I have ever used for base. Can't go wrong with it.

A new Devilbiss DV1 will be their latest basecoat gun, and was debuted at Sema. I think a DV1 version for clear coat will follow. Currently the blue basecoat gun, and gold colored clear coat gun get great reviews.

Think ima try one for metalics and use my copper for solid and sealer.

Old thread but I have some Tekna basecoat spray gun questions.
My neighbor (shop) has a brand new Tekna Basecoat set but the box is gone and I'm not 100% sure what the gun came with?
He isn't sure and asked me to check it out.

In the photo I think is what the gun came with: Starting upper left: the gun with a 1.3 nozzle and a HV20 aircap, in the bag a 1.4 nozzle and needle, bag of color code rings, a cheater valve with a digital gauge, a 10mm box / 14mm open end wrench with cleaning brush and a DeKup adapter.
Is this what come with the gun when you buy it (without cup)?
He also has a HV30 aircap, what does that do different from the HV20?

That pretty much what the overall use gun comes with. If the HV is like the TE designation, the 20 is like an RP and the 30 is HVLP.

Thank AAE for confirming the set.
I don't know anything about the TE designation so still not clear to me what that HV30 changes from the HV20:confused:.

Quick search showed that the basecoat only comes with an HV20 cap and it's HVLP. Didn't see anything about an HV30.

That is what I saw as well. The HV30 may have nothing to do with that basecoat gun, I don't know. It does have Tekna printed on it, maybe for another model?

Lot of confusion with these DeVilbiss guns! They are probably all pretty good but right now I have enough guns to have a few OK corrals:
;)
