Standox flattening agent in UC ?

I haven't. But I'm sure it would work. The issue is always figuring out the right ratio to get the look you want. You won't be able to follow their TDS exactly because the clears have different characteristics.

Any good-grade automotive refinish brand of flattener will work; it is just a matter of the percentage you need to use to get the gloss level you're looking for.

I take it back, I do not think it will work because it's not just a flattener, it looks to have a resin that needs activation in it, at least that's the way I read the TDS. Standox calls for their flattener to be mixed with their clear prior to activating, which to me means it will not work with SPI. What is required is a flattener that gets mixed in to RTS clear, so that proper mix ratios can be maintained. The TDS for Standox Flattener:

@Barry please have a look at that to confirm!

Wow can't add to the matt clear is the givaway; I never knew such a flattener existed.
I can see why I have never heard of it before if you follow the procedure, you would need to charge $1000 for a small fender and hope you break even.
Won't work.

@Chris_Hamilton , are you able to find the TDS for that Utech?
Edit:
Nevermind, it may not have its own TDS, but I see from reading one of the clearcoat TDS's that it is added to RTS clear. That's an important distinction that definitely makes the 890 a "normal" flattener suitable for use in most or all RTS clears.

My $.02. My first choice is always SPI products. But, when I needed matte clear for a small project, I just went with the complete system from one vendor, that way I knew the ratios etc. would work according to their TDS, without a bunch of test sprays and potential incompatibilities.

Nice thing about an additive is that you only have to purchase that. Much cheaper, especially if you are already using SPI. And you get the assurance that you are using a quality clear. Plus the option of however flat you want it to be.

@crashtech I have a physical copy of the TDS somewhere. I'll try to find it and post a pic of it. I bought a quart of the stuff to try after Jim C recommended it to me. Very similar to the SPI flattening agent and yes you add it to RTS clear. I like it.
