Sprayway glass cleaner

Is it ok to use Sprayway glass cleaner to clean off sanding dust after block sanding high build? This will be right before I spray the base coat. I've seen this mentioned here and there on the forum. I will tack cloth before I spray

Why do you want to use glass cleaner? After you get done with final sanding, wash it good with soapy water (Dawn is excellent). Then after you mask use a quality wax and grease remover. Glass cleaner is not a substitute for wax and grease remover.

I had read about using Sprayaway cleaner on this forum several times. The truck has no doors on it. I'm not really sure how I would wash it without soaking the interior. First time to paint a whole vehicle. I'm below amateur status and just learning. Trying to figure out how to clean the truck really well before spraying base with out ruining the interior and the electrics in the doors.I think it was Crashtek who mentioned using that cleaner. I'm not trying to start anything I just dont know. Thanks for answering.

If you mask off your door openings with paintable plastic sheeting, you will be able to clean the car well and prep it for paint. It all has to be masked off anyway.

Just make sure you get PAINTABLE plastic sheeting so the paint will stick and not blow off ruining your paint. Anyone who sell paint supplies will have it. The last I bought was on sale for 33-34 bucks and Lasts a long time.

Obviously, this is a windshield opening but the principle is the same. Run 2" tape around the inside of the opening leaving an inch or so exposed. Stick your plastic to the tape gently stretching it to limit the wrinkles that can catch dust and trim it with a razor blade. Masking a door becomes a five minute job without all the hassle that paper causes.

Sprayway glass cleaner is used if you ran out of SPI 700-1 and you need a cleaner to kill static of a plastic bumper, or if you need a very mild cleaner when dealing with fresh basecoat. For your application it’s better to use the dedicated W&G removers.

Ok thanks. I have the wax and grease remover, for some reason I was under the impression not to use after blocking the high build or before spraying the base.

Sprayway is good for initial cleaning of sanding dust. The thing with the W&G remover is it needs to flash off before painting.

I tried some of the "other" methods and now just stick with SPI solvent based W&G remover. I put it into a spray bottle and then spray it on and wipe it off before it dries. Flashes off fairly quickly.

I guess I miss-read your concerns Deepsouth. I thought you were concerned about protecting the interior because the doors were off. I apologize for the detour into masking.

No sir I appreciate the advice. Didn't know anything about that type of plastic. Thank you very much for the info.
