SPI / PPG intercoat compatibility

My PPG store is having trouble matching a 2010 Toyota color (8S6) in DBC. He mixed up 14 oz. of Global and got a blendable color after
playing with it a bit and then topped it off with about 2 oz. of DBC 500 intercoat.

When I need an intercoat I use SPI (great product!). I plan to use an intercoat with this color (metallic with 2 pearls) for blending.

Can I use the SPI intercoat with this mix that has PPG intercoat already in it ? Thanks

You should be fine, was he trying to bring out the metallics or pearl more by adding the intercoat?

Not sure, Chad. The formula did not list any 'clear' but it only made 14 oz. and I told him I wanted a pint so I just figured he
added the intercoat to get it to 16 ounces.
The color and clear (SPI universal) have been on for a couple days now, lightly sanded (1500) and in the sun today with no problems.
Sand and buff tomorrow. The two intercoats got along nicely!

So odd to add intercoat "just because." I guess the pint price can be charged that way? Doesn't make sense.
