Very nice, Dwayne! I read through some of your posts in this job. As a total novice whom has never painted a car before, I'm curious! Had you painted a car prior to your Firebird?

I took 2 years vocational autobody in highscool a very long time ago. Then I was in the body industry for a couple years. By the time I got around to this car I had to learn what was good, better, best all over.
My cousin Aaron Miller and his Wife Lauren put me on to SPI after I had seen there Eleanor Mustang build. I had also seen some fantastic projects Lauren had painted with the products. The high solids clear is amazing.
I followed Barry's perfect paint job guide , and placed many phone calls. He is very knowledgeable and will give you tips alot of people don't want to share.
The biggest thing is get a really good gun.Have at least a 80gal compressor with air dryer and clean air. Take your time with the sanding and prep. Read all of your mixing and flashtimes. And practice, take some time to get used to the products on some test panels.
I got plenty of it with some of my mistakes, and mishaps. Lol

Thanks for the response, Dwayne! Total newbie here who has been studying for some time now. However, there is a huge difference in reading/studying and actually doing.

I hope to begin the bodywork on my car this summer and paint perhaps in the fall. I will be posting up my build thread here with hopes that my SPI family friends will help me paint this car.....LOL! Barry, Chris, Matt, Robert…..you guys ready!?!

You're doing better than me . I have one on a rotisserie and one stripped down to the shell in bare metal (both 70 Sportsroof cars). Looking forward to your progress.

Your best knowledge will gained thru experience. Advice from knowledgeable people plus experience will get you where you need to be. Nice car btw. Looking forward to the build.
