SPI epoxy mixed as a sealer over bare metal?

I'm reworking one panel I wasn't happy with and the base coat is blocked down with P400 grit to the point that it's thin enough to see the sealer under it. However I broke through one edge and it's bare metal exposed The exposed size is approximately 1/4" wide and about 3" long and has a fine feathered edge into the painted area. I can spray some PPG DPS primer surfacer on the exposed area (DPS is was I used originally) with an overlap onto the surrounding base or would SPI epoxy mixed 1:1:1 be a better option providing sealer can go over spot bare metal? Afterwards, I'm going to re-base the entire panel (it has a catalyzed base) and clear it with UC.

Thanks,
Mike

I would use the epoxy, and not reduce it.
That way there's less chance lifting the edges of the base
where there's a break through.
It locks it down, seals it, and gives better adhesion.
Only down side is having to wait overnight to base over it.

Thanks, JC. I've felt epoxy was the better solution but it's always good to get a second opinion.
I don't mind waiting overnight being it's my own car.

JC...or anyone who may be on line, will un-reduced epoxy primer stick to these small exposed areas even if the metal has a P400 grit cut?

Thanks,
Mike
