Since switching to basecoat candy versus clearcoat candy I can say there are too many advantages for me to go back to clearcoat candy. 1 Ease of use. get a little spec in your basecoat candy it's a whole lot easier to get it out. It is also, I think, easier to control blotchy areas. 2 As I get older, I get tired before I can get sealer, multiple base coats, multiple candy coats and multiple clear on in one session. Getting it up to the clear stage and coming back the next day fresh has produced a better product for me. 3 Letting sealer, base, and base candy sit over night to flash has reduced dye back and shrinkage. 4 I find that due to less millage of buildup the end product does not chip as easily on edges like door edges with a ton of mills. Just my 0.02 and again, it usually isn't worth that....
