SL-C Super Light Kit Car

In regards to that roof piece. There is ZERO information out there anywhere as far as installation. When I originally picked all these parts up I asked them about that piece and the response was "Well a lot of builders tackle it differently" I said, but what does the "manufacturer" recommend?? Oh we don't have any documentation on that part. Wow thats sad...but ok.

It wasn't until I started doing some digging and saw some pics of other roof pieces that I contacted the owner and said "This piece doesn't look like what they sell."

I'm almost 100% that they themselves tried to install this piece on a car and the guy botched it up and they just waited for the day they could pawn it off on another sucker.

I'm curious, is there any flex in that roof?

I ask because I have a hemi scoop on my hood. The first time I ran the car at the track, I was freaked out on how much air that scoop sucked in balloning the hood and scoop. Fortunately, the scoop is a bolt on so there wasn't any paint fractures on the hood at the scoop. I'm thinking if the scoop had been glassed in, I would have seen paint fractures. The center of the hood and scoop literally raised a good inch or better. I really thought the hood was going to be blown off.

The scoop that is in the actual roof or that carbon piece?

Here is the actual roof, that carbon piece was a cosmetic piece that was supposed to be glued on. The roof itself has zero flex.

Sorry for being a dummy but maybe you could clarify. So the Shop were it was at before was not the place where it was made? They were just supposed to be doing what you are now?
Is it fiberglass or carbon fiber? The body itself. Maybe I missed that. :)

The body itself is fiberglass.

Race Car Replica's(who builds these kits) has other manufactures that make parts for their cars, add on accessories. This carbon roof piece is just an add on for looks only.

At least that's my understanding.

The shop that it came from was Race Car Replicas, they build the kits, but they don't do many full builds. I don't think they are interested in the hours it takes. I think their business is built around building a starting point for someone to complete their dream.

That's where the real problem comes in. I priced out this particular kit and it was over 100K just for the kit with no engine due to all the options he added. Now you factor in a brand new LT4 crate engine, all the wiring plus all of other add ons this guy did. When you don't do any of the labor yourself you end up with a very expensive car is well isnt worth nearly what's invested.

Not that cars are a good investment regardless, this just gets really bad. It's a cool car and will definitely turn some heads when its completed. The engineering into the chassis is pretty bad ass. I wont take that from that shop, but their business ethics....well.....

Doesn’t sounds like a place I’d ever wanna do business with.
Ya, definitely not. I'm not going to go any further on what I think about the shop. I don't want this thread to be a constant bitch fest! It is what it is.

Pushing for some primer this weekend on some of the parts. There were some changes added that I have to add some vents on the side and extend the opening in the front some so that will be next weeks challenges.

It was actually an incredible amount of work to get this front end to line up.

Understatement of the Year.

You do know,
EVERY Aftermarket Performance piece comes with the SAME Instructions,

"Some Modifications may be Required "

You got the Power Ball loto Version.
And I thought I had Patience.
Ain't no Quit in you 'Juice. Outstanding effort and workmanship !!

lol, no. That's probably just resin drips. I think they have been there for awhile now.

Oh blood has been drawn, make no mistake about that...just not the amounts that would show up on the floor(yet)

Lame weekend......fall baseball started and combine that with a massive shop cleanup I wasn't able to get a ton done, but motivated to get alot done this week.

I did get the front end bodyworked.
