Size for paint booth

I’m considering building a paint booth/paint room at my house. I live in a fairly country area with 2.5 acres so I don’t have to worry about the neighbors. I probably won’t do a paint job but every couple of years. I have a 24x40 lean too on the back of my shop I would like to close in 20x24. I have no idea the sizes of real paint booths. Is this a reasonable size? Too big? It would be 24’ deep and 20’ wide. My friend has one I have been using and it’s about 14-16’ wide. It’s too narrow and I’m tired of hauling stuff around and not having everything I need when emergencies arise. Seems like everything I’ve done lately something goes wrong. I’m learning the hard way I suppose like most of you good painters did.

One thing to consider is airflow. The size and number of fans is dependent on cubic volume of the booth. From what I read, you want the entire volume of air to turnover every 1-2 minutes minimum. Probably faster than that for clear coat which really puts up a fog. So bigger booth means bigger/more fans, and the industrial ones aren't cheap.

Ok so I have my paint room about closed in, hopefully finish up my door and outside trim this weekend. Now I need to plan for intake filters and fan setup. The building is 20' wide 24' deep with a 14' roll up door at the front. The rear wall from facing the door is the back wall of the main shop. I originally was thinking I would place the intake filters on the back wall 6-7' off the floor and a fan on each side of the roll up door for exhaust. Well I got a deal on the 14' door and now there is no room for a fan of any size on each side of the door. I have a 36" 12000 cfm fan that I could mount in a 14' wide box on casters, sit in the door opening and shut the door on it. I would be pulling air from inside the main shop through filters up high to the opposite end through the fan/filter box. Another option would be, I have a couple of 36" square louvers I could mount at each end of the sidewall and place the fan in the center of the other sidewall. I suppose this would be side draft/crossflow whatever. I prefer the second option since it would be permanent and I wouldn't have to deal with moving a fan every time I paint. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated, I would like to do this one time and it work fair. Also, recommendations on lights, I know I need plenty. Tring to find used fluorescent fixtures to convert to LED.

mine is 16x24 . filters in the door . exhaust under the bench with the fan outside . my old booth was 3200 sqft .
